The Power of Waves

My connection to the ocean runs deep. Sea water runs through my veins. Its magnetic pull has never let go of my heart. I feel I have been away from it far too long and being in lock down from Covid-19 has felt like staying at anchor on a still inlet or pond, not being able to leave but having access to a stillness that eludes us when we are in the full pulse of city life.

June 8 is world ocean day and I’ve been meditating on the power and beauty of the ocean and how it makes me feel. Looking at the brain wave chart is an uncanny reflection of the wave motions of the ocean. Gamma ocean waves, rough and choppy, hard to navigate through. Delta ocean waves, serenity and deep restfulness. The ocean draws you in with its thunderous power to its calming and sedating nature. It slows us down and commands our respect.

Yoga is also an ocean. Yoga is the best path to becoming turned on by life with balance and strength. Yoga is a daily practice and it needs to be daily even if it is only 10 minutes in the morning or at night. Why? Yoga and meditation slow our brainwaves down from functioning in Beta = busy, to alpha = grounded and sometimes even theta= creative and inspired

My realisation/inspiration this morning- the best investment you can make is in yourself and realising how valuable you are to you. It is no longer OK not to be myself.
